Extending the Street Fighter Alpha 3 screenshots are two remaining from the original batch and three responses to a recent request.
SFA3 X-Ryu’s Shinkuu Hadoken briefly mirrors A-Akuma’s lvl3 Messatsu Gouhadou. Akuma’s version expands to that size every few frames, but Ryu’s only looks that way for a couple of frames at startup, before turning into a replica of his SSF2T super fireball.
Ever since TASVideos began officially supporting arcade emulators, fighting games have been attracting increased attention from within their community. This Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha Dramatic Battle tool-assisted speedrun is probably the best one yet.

Alpha Counters have existed since Street Fighter Alpha, but SFA3 gave them extra dramatic flair by adding a lightning bolt to their startup animation.
SFA3 A-Guy’s Alpha Counter lightning strikes after he blocks X-Cody’s F+MP, as Haggar and Axl watch from the background. (Axl is an enemy thug found in the first stage of Final Fight.) Incidentally, Final Fight was originally released to arcades in 1989.
This is going back a ways – to GCC days, when IRC was still an essential communication medium. Shortly after Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution was released, we were treated to this superbly edited combo video – the result of two continuous months of hard work.

Some of you may remember the fighting game screenshot gallery i compiled last year. It was relatively well-received and eventually followed by a series of weekly screenshots posted on Sonic Hurricane every Thursday. I’ve decided to carry on that routine here at ComboVid, with the same schedule. But first, i’ll need to import my entire archive of past screenshots.
MvC Captain America’s shieldless c.HP startup (with the shield dropping into his hand) against Wolverine’s j.LK startup, with Thor assist entering and Shadow (Charlie) assist exiting. Like they like to say in the comics, “Avengers Assemble!”
New Blood 3 is a multi-game combo video featuring contributions from twenty people, where almost every single person specialized in a different game.

Recorded well over five years ago, a few of these tactics are somewhat dated now. They’ll still work if you’re just trying to learn CvS2, but not against the few veterans who never stopped playing the game. Then again if you run into anyone like that, they can help fill in the blanks.
highlights:
CvS2 C-Guile vs K-Ken at 0:34, K-Guile vs K-Geese at 2:04, A-Guile vs A-Sakura at 2:28,
C-Guile vs A-Bison at 2:37, and C-Guile vs A-Sakura at 3:06
This video was released to promote a SoCal SF4 and T6 tournament in December, but it doubles as a CaliPower highlight reel. What can i say? It’s fun to watch.
highlights:
Has it really been twelve years since the Alex vs Daigo rivalry began? I remember getting that matchvid from an FTP link through IRC. Even downloads were oldschool back then.
This video chronicles the Melty Blood: Actress Again tournament held at NECX, in case anyone needed further proof that the MB scene is legit.
