sithlord Interviews 538 and Deep Theater

Tekken Zaibatsu’s sithlord recently had the chance to interview two well-known Tekken combo makers: 538 and Deep Theater (aka YOU). Both are members of the legendary group KYSG.

sithlord’s Combo QnA: 538 (KYSG)

sithlord: Your videos all have a concept behind them. How important is concept to you? Do you think today’s combo video creators should focus more on concept?

538: We can’t set up the goal of video without theme.
Therefore, Concept(theme) is very important.
This is only my value, so I don’t think for creators to share this.
(I even envy the creator who can make Good one without Concept)

sithlord’s Combo QnA: Deep Theater (KYSG)

sithlord: In your opinion, what makes a good combo for a combo video?

Deep Theater: When I make, I mind these:
[about Combo]
I said again & again,
What’s new is most important.
…and if combined 2 new Ideas, make it wonderful.
Knowing GameSystem deeply put out new idea.

[about Editting]
don’t use some similar combos in one movie.
too long prelude is boring.(if it’s PV, OK)

Follow each link to read the full interviews – including questions and answers about how they got started, what they think of Tekken x Street Fighter, and their future plans. The translations provided by Deep Theater are a little rough, but the meaning is usually clear.

Screenshot Archive: X-Men: Children of the Atom

X-Men: Children of the Atom was the first installment in Capcom’s imaginative Marvel series. Every aspect of the game is absolutely beautiful. Each character has an unbelievable number of unique animation frames that were gradually lost over the years as rosters grew bigger.

COTA Cyclops fires a barrage of s.HP and c.HP optic bullets at Sentinel’s s.MP missles, while Sentinel starts up his s.HP laser beam. Both characters are suki-canceling after every eligible attack to cut down recovery times. (The entire sequence containing this still can be found in our Super Fireball Battle special premiered at Evo2k10.)

Screenshot Archive: Mega Man: The Power Battle

Mega Man: The Power Battle is a fun obscure CPS1 action title, but its small character sprites and lack of versus mode make it difficult to produce immediately striking screenshots.

NW Demitri’s LP air Chaos Flare burns an air dashing Hsien-Ko as he lands on his own LP Chaos Flare reflected by Hsien-Ko’s LP Reflect Gong. Each of Demitri’s palette options has a different fireball color which causes a matching flame animation, but Hsien-Ko’s reflect reverts the damage animation to the default orange flame.
