Up Your Game SSF4 Match Play Compilation

What can i say? These matchvid highlight reels are fun to watch. This one features tons of Super Street Fighter IV footage from the UYG crew. Fair warning though: Some of the shorter clips are basically pointless, and the last minute was mysteriously left blank.

highlights:
SSF4 Vega bullying some hapless T.Hawk player at 0:15, Cammy linkfest from 3:09 onward, Sagat fireball-dodging at 4:40, and Ibuki crossup shenanigans at 6:37

Bait Combos and Block Strings Article on Sonic Hurricane

There’s a new strategy article up on Sonic Hurricane explaining the general concept of using attacks to bait supers and Custom Combos. Here’s the link along with a brief quote:

Using Combos and Block Strings as Bait on Sonic Hurricane

Valle somehow assembled the perfect storm. He built up an insane amount of comeback momentum. He used a combo that didn’t knock down, so it looked like he screwed up. It was only three hits, so it was tough for Choi to judge the distance in such a short period of time. It ended in a fireball which caused funky slowdown and messed with Choi’s timing. And it ended with Sagat standing up, which made him seem like a very tempting target for a Valle CC.

MatchVid of the Day: Bagwoon/D44 vs K/Gunter (CvS2)

Apparently this is the conclusion of a 2-on-2 Capcom vs SNK 2 tournament where each player had to pick one random character? So of course Bas basically wins it with R1 A-Bison alone.

players: Bagwoon (C-Ken/Sagat/ChunLi-2) and D44 (A-Bison/Hibiki/Blanka-2)
                vs K (C-Akuma/Blanka/Sagat-2) and GunterJPN (A-Bison/King/Blanka-2)

observations:
There’s an interesting moment at 0:58 where K lands a half-nice/half-ghetto Raging Demon setup, then he kind of backs off and allows Bagwoon to throw out a roll DP. Obviously he could’ve punished the roll and won the round immediately, but when you think about it, getting Demon’d tends to make people anxious. There was a chance that Bagwoon might have done a super after that roll, so maybe K was giving Bagwoon an opportunity to waste all his meter before dying? Not a bad idea. It didn’t matter in the end though, because D44-Bas is too damn good at this game. Did you know that he invented Bison’s far s.MP? True story.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Teaser from TGS

That’s a lot of T’s! So this is actually happening? I like how the Namco logo is represented by Kazuya and Jin punching in each other in the face.

It looks to be very early in development but they already have several intriguing features in place. Tagging seems to give you extended control of the exiting character, as shown with Leo at 0:52. And of course Jin’s throw comboed into Azuka’s throw looks awesome, even if it turns out to be a single move rather than a combo.
