SF3:3S SUV Bonus Stage Challenge by onReload

Posted on April 12, 2011 by Maj

Who doesn’t enjoy fighting game bonus stages? 3rd Strike aficionado onReload wants to know if anyone out there can beat his high score of 84,000 bonus points on the car smashing stage. Well, what are you waiting for? Get to smashing!

notes:
Apparently Chun Li has an easy high score solution, because she’s the only character outlawed for this challenge. Everyone else is fair game. Personally i wouldn’t mind seeing an angry Makoto attempt, assuming K-Groove helps her smash faster.

Akuma may take a lot of damage, but he knows how to dish it out too. He’s not just Hurricane Kick loops either. Persona does an excellent job of utilizing Akuma’s full arsenal of projectiles.

KoF2k2 Combo Movie by adakino

Posted on April 10, 2011 by Maj

I’m happy to see adakino continuuing to upload a steady stream of his classic videos – for obscure fighting games as well as mainstay SNK titles. While most of these videos are several years old, the quality of content is still top-notch and the glitches are as interesting as ever.

highlights:
KoF2k2 Ramon comedy in combo form at 0:17, Iori triple B+LK crossup at 0:47 and 1:00, and Daimon style exhibition at 1:09

ARK3 Tournament Montage by Snoooootch

Posted on April 10, 2011 by Maj

Snoooootch took his camera with him to the A.R.K. 3 tournament last weekend, and filmed everything throughout the trip. It’s always cool to see how various regions have their tournaments set up. It would’ve been nice to see a few more hype match moments, but in fairness it’s difficult to capture that without a projector in the room.

highlights:
CBS news at 0:52, WW Guile kicking someone in the head at 2:25, mean flashback at 3:47, wtf animation at 3:47, and diner afterparty at 5:15

MotW Last Order CMV by K’rows

Posted on April 8, 2011 by Maj

It’s not too often that we get to see new Garou: Mark of the Wolves combovids. Finding fresh content for a fighting game released in 1999 isn’t exactly easy, but K’rows proves that it’s possible yet. Even if you don’t play the game, you have to appreciate such style.

highlights:
MotW Kevin pushing buttons at 0:27, Rock double Rising Tackle at 1:24, B.Jenet’s revenge at 2:08, Gato midscreen crossunder at 2:39, and Kim twins tandem (superbly edited) at 2:47

MvC3: The Brawl Vol. 3 by Juan Fra

Posted on April 5, 2011 by Maj

As the stream of Marvel vs Capcom 3 combovids begins to slow down, i’m happy to see that Juan Fra isn’t done yet. Here’s the third installment of his innovative MvC3 combo series, again featuring a variety of characters without any usage of X-Factor whatsoever.

highlights:
MvC3 Phoenix quadruple air Phoenix Rage at 1:03, She-Hulk/Magneto DHC Trick KO at 2:23, and Tron/IronMan/Doom insanity at 3:57

Power Instinct: Bonnou Kaihou CMV by adakino

Posted on April 2, 2011 by Maj

Where does adaki find these obscure fighting games? Apparently this video was completed five years ago, but he’s just now made it available on his u2b channel. I can’t even tell what these ridiculous characters are doing most of the time, but i’m pretty sure i’m offended by it.

highlights:
SGIBK Chinnen air kung fu at 0:05, Kintaro double bear juggle at 0:18, and Angela random fireball setup at 0:26

MvC3 Arthur Combo Video by Persona

Posted on March 31, 2011 by Maj

Continuing his exploration of obscure Marvel vs Capcom 3 characters, Persona’s latest video focuses on Arthur. He’s certainly an unorthodox character for a fighting game, but he fits right in with MvC3’s colorful roster. More importantly, his combos are creative and fun to watch.

highlights:
MvC3 Arthur midscreen craziness at 0:27, Arthur six-meter double-armor combo at 2:07, and Arthur full-screen lancing at 2:32

SF4 C.Viper Alternate Solutions by Doopliss

Posted on March 31, 2011 by Maj

Despite falling two versions behind, Doopliss continues his series of Street Fighter IV trial alternate solutions undaunted. The latest episode features SF4’s superjump-cancel specialist.

notes:
Although C.Viper is surprisingly limited as a combo video candidate, what she does have is the ability to perform the same combo several different ways. This makes her the perfect subject for an alternate solutions tutorial.
