MatchVid of the Day: Maximilian vs CaliPower (SF4)

These replays are from an extended set of online Street Fighter IV player matches recorded last year. I’m not sure what the final tally was, but i watched quite a few of them.

players: Maximilian (Ken) vs Alex “CaliPower” Valle (Gouken)

observations:
Maximilian’s Ken has some insanely dangerous mixups and does tons of damage anytime he gets near Gouken. It’s also kind of fun to watch Valle refusing to give up on Gouken, even through situations where he clearly has no answer. But the real secret reason i’m posting this matchvid is because of the awesome 2-hit Gouken combo to finish off the round at 5:20.

game: Street Fighter IV (Console)

Hahaha. I was just watching the video, when that combo came. “Wow, that was totally sweet”. Then I checked your observations. But your time was a bit too early, no? I wouldn’t say anything before 5:25.

Believe it or not, i actually spent two minutes going back and forth about that exact thing. But the problem with listing 5:25 is that one second isn’t enough time for the setting to sink in. I was afraid someone would fast forward right to 5:25 and it would go by too fast for it to register. It’s not as cool if they have to rewind, you know?

I list exact times in combovids because i expect people to watch the entire thing. But sometimes with these long matchvid sets, i figure people are more likely to skip around.

So I was watching this. And even after I read your description bellow the video, I was still amazed at Valle’s finisher at 5:20. Maybe because I am too inebriated to realize. lol. But man, a last millisecond juggle. that was really good. Sadly, he does much better with Ryu.
