MatchVid of the Day: Osmani vs Kensou (KoF2k2)

This is from a recent local tourney in Mexico City, featuring some of the top King of Fighters 2002 players in a very interesting match.

players: Osmani (Choi/Billy/Yamazaki) vs Kensou (Kensou/Athena/Ramon)

observations:
Athena performs a teleport and catches Billy in an air throw at 1:39, then follows up with that nasty combo. Something strange happens at 1:56 – Billy attempts to bait Athena into performing a CD break using block string dB, dC into qcb+D. Her CD counter gets caught by Billy’s qcb+D, but even though Billy starts the attack triggered by the counter, Athena still blows him away with the same CD! The active portion of Athena’s CD should’ve been absorbed, but maybe it hits twice? At 3:08, Ramon pulls out a dp+B and somehow Yamazaki falls too far back so Ramon’s dp+B followup whiffs and gives Yamazaki a slight advantage. Then at 3:16, Ramon performs a qcf, hcb+B DM as bait and Yamazaki steps back and rushes to grab with hcb,f+A. However, Ramon uses a quick qcb+hcf+B DM as soon he recovers to overcome Yamazaki’s grab and passes through to quarter-finals!
