The person who scores the highest number of points this year will win a prize package containing all sorts of random Street Fighter merchandise. Magnetro and Mike Z were the first and second place winners of last year's contest and you can check out their prizes for an idea of what to expect.

Rise to the top, kick down your address, and you'll receive a whole bunch of cool stuff that'll make you wonder if i've been moonlighting as a janitor at Capcom! I'll take care of shipping costs even if you live millions of miles away!

This year, the top three point earners will receive prize packages. Expect photos of this year's prizes shortly.

Deadline for submissions is midnight PST, December 31st 2009.

As mentioned above, only points earned in 2009 will count towards this contest. For reference, here are the final 2008 numbers:

On second thought, i don't think i'm gonna mail out the ancient gummy candy that came with the SF 15th Anniversary figures since they are most likely lethally poisonous.

Also the winners are free to trade prizes before i mail them out. So if the second place winner wants that Guile keychain, they can offer something to the first place winner in exchange for it. If you guys reach an agreement, i'll reorganize the packages however you tell me.

Can I trade prizes with you? I'll trade the ken figure and tekken case for your guile keychain.

Haha nice try, but you're just gonna have to learn to love your Ken toy. Or trade directly with whoever wins the Guile keychain.

So while everyone agrees that having a challenge board is a charming little feature on paper, it seems like everyone who's active is too busy with real combovids to bother solving any of these puzzles. Which is totally fine, cuz i'd rather see people working on substantial projects instead. Plus i'm still happy with the way this whole branch of sh/f turned out.

But you gotta admit, it is a little ridiculous to spend money shipping out extravagant prize packages for one or two clips. With that in mind, i've decided i'm gonna retract the prizes for this year's competition and instead use them for giveaways on my blog or something. We'll still do a wrap-up at the end of the year and i'll save a couple of small things for first place - the Guile keychain for sure, dunno what else yet. Then next year we probably won't bother with an actual competition at all, though i might still keep track of fake points whenever someone gets bored enough to submit a challenge clip.

What do you guys think? Does that sound fair?

You're in 2nd place right now so if Christmas keeps everyone busy then you're gonna get random Ryu stuff. If you want me to give it out on SonicHurricane instead, i'm down. But just so you know it'll probably cost me more to ship out three items piecewise than to send it all to you. And if one dude living in Antarctica happens to come up with a great screenshot caption, haha GGPO to me.

I know fans of the site/vids would appreciate the SF goodies more than me. Plus, if the promise of prizes gets you more hits, I feel much better about the postage costs you'll incur, lol.

Thank you sir. I'll give them away in one of those screenshot contests or something. Though i might save the CvS sign for something else. It's not the coolest-looking thing ever but it has sentimental value, so i wouldn't want to give it away to just anyone.
