IT AIN'T FLAVOR

but on a serious note, what about Fei Long's super in A3, the one that also only does good damage from precise spacing?

Why do i really suck at MVC3 when i only kinda suck on SFIV?

Why do so many third strike players act so elitist? as if it's the most balanced game in the world.
Pro players have amazing reads because they are reading properly a lot of the time, so even when it's a guess, the commentator thinks it's a read. At least, that's my take on it.

MvC has always been a very different beast from the main SF series; it's faster, you use more of the screen space, the zoning is a totally different idea, and it's a 3v3 game.

We're elitists sometimes because Third Strike is, sometimes, a better game than anything ever.

...I'm only kidding. It's because some people think that 3rd Strike, being the end of a long line of SF games in the 90s, was the "pinnacle of fighting game design" or something, and some people blame its difficult accessibility for making SF3 not so popular; and since people think the lack of popularity was because other players "didn't get it," well...there you go. It's like people who don't like your favorite band are "STUPID KIDS WHO CAN'T APPRECIATE MUSIC THESE DAYS." It's a very different game from Alpha, SF2, SF4, and it was out way before SF4. More generally speaking, I think a lot of pre-millenial FG players will come off as elitist to the SF4 crowd.

Also hey Maj: why is Gigaton Blow any good? and which groove do you use the most (My guess is C)

if it hits it's an amazing read

RE: Option Selects.

Option Selects are actually widely used in ST, but it seems like many players outside Japan only started picking up on them in the last few years (possibly due to SFIV). One of the first ones I saw was the tick throw OS SRK. Basically you do a tick, and then do SRK motion ending on forward + mk ~ lp. If they try an invincible reversal you get DP (the mk gets kara-cancelled), if not, you throw them.

ST has lots of option selects, but back then people just called them hidden or "built-in" commands. ie. A command that has the input for another command "built into it". The safe-jump OS DP made famous by Daigo also comes from ST.

Here's a channel that shows some cool ST OS's, tricks and glitches used in matches:

Seems like whereever you see "preparation" in the title it refers to an OS. eg. "Preparation shoryu" = "OS Shoryu"

...Did they just DECREASE pushback on Chun's c.HP?... Are they stupid? She'll have like 348756387563876 different infinites now.

EDIT: Ah, it was close HP, puh. I just assumed it was c.HP when they talked about cancelling into SBK.
Maybe Doopliss isn't kicking ass, but he's taking names.

So...Ryu can't FADC (or SC) his HP SRK...what? It's gonna be like a flash kick or TU now, where the deep hit does good damage, but I"m guessing you can't cancel it as (my guess is) it puts Ryu airborne right out the gate...I guess you could bait trades with it again, even though, if you ARE airborne, it would take longer to recover and follow-up with U1 (which would still work, though)

..yet LP and MP are still two hits so far. Uhmmm...? Well, at least being an online scrub with U2 will be more fun...using it as an AA right now is so painfully stupid but I keep trying.

LP SRK's isn't two hits.

the HP SRK things seems like nothing but a buff to me. confident people will punish jump ins, it will also be the ideal combo ender. Though MP SRK still appears to have the most I-frames. at the current stage most people now probably use MP SRK to FADC in to Ultra anyway.

I hope it's JP1 though, LK tatsu to HP SRK in corner would be godly for Stun/damage
