Re: Background Music Muting Procedures
Does anyone have mute codes for Plasma Sword in mame? Alternatively, what should I remove/change in the driver or ROM to disable the music?

Re: Random Obscure Findings
A while back someone demonstrated to me that in SFIICE, Ryu's LP DP can hit low. I tried it in HSFIIA and confirmed that all CPS1 versions of Ken/Ryu can do it, at least against any version of Chun Li. The timing and spacing is such that it will hit after she blocks a close range fireball.

Re: SF2 stuff
I suppose for a start it would be useful to note which chars can do it against who. From that vid I linked it looks like Ryu, Chun, Honda, Dee Jay, Boxer and perhaps Dictator. Guile confirmed by Maj.

Nice, I loved that combo vid. It's the first HD combovid I ever downloaded.
I'm surprised noone's ever done a 100% no-dizzy TOD CMV for ST... (hint hint)

Here's Boxer doing 2 dash punches seemingly from a single charge:

Oh, and are "true" TODs possible in ST? ie. Combos that drain the whole life bar without the opponent getting stunned? I saw a few in this vid but I can't tell if they're training mode only ...

Re: SSF4:AE Combo Engine Investigation
If it had something to do with kara cancelling the FADC, I think it would either cost 2 bars or 0, not one. He does shine yellow for a frame before the Ultra is activated though.
It could be an EX Focus Attack, which is subtly different to an FADC (the FA is cancelled by a dash). You can cancel EX ...

Notice that the FADC only uses 1-bar.Doopliss wrote:Wait, what?
Ideas:
- The dash part of the FADC is being kara-cancelled
- The attack part of an EX FA is being kara-cancelled
- Irreproducible glitch related to the variable frame-rate bug on PC (I doubt it considering the date of the vid)

Re: SSF4:AE Combo Engine Investigation
OK so it's just a standard mid-combo meaty link then. Turns out that if you do it to a standing Fei it will always yield a mid-combo meaty. The max range I've tried is after a cr.mp.

Re: SSF4:AE Combo Engine Investigation
What makes this Ryu combo work?
Counter-hit crossup j.mk, close st.HK, sweep - 270 damage, 405 stun
Only tested it vs Ryu (works on Ken as well - I'll test other characters later).
I have an idea, but I wanna know if there's another explanation.
EDIT:
It works on Ryu, Ken, E.Ryu and Fei Long ...

RE: Option Selects.
Option Selects are actually widely used in ST, but it seems like many players outside Japan only started picking up on them in the last few years (possibly due to SFIV). One of the first ones I saw was the tick throw OS SRK. Basically you do a tick, and then do SRK motion ending ...

Re: SSF4:AE Combo Engine Investigation
hum, I still haven't decided, 36$ seems like a lot for just 4 new characters, and they've nerfed blanka for no reason so I probably won't enjoy it as much as vanilla. Weird that the pc version is so much more expensive then the dlc version.

Re: Got any Questions about WW, CE, HF, SSF2, ST, HSF2, or H
Thanks, looks like it's working.
There seems to be one problem though, but I didn't test it fully. I think you're supposed to get one extra frame advantage on the first hit of a combo. But it looks like with this cheat the combo hit-counter doesn't reset until they finally go into that slow ...

Re: Got any Questions about WW, CE, HF, SSF2, ST, HSF2, or H
I don't know if this is the best place to ask, but does anyone have a decent Infinite Health cheat for any of the SFII games? All the cheats I know of cause funny hitstun issues. The best I could come up with was setting the health to max but it still runs down eventually.

Re: Got any Questions about WW, CE, HF, SSF2, ST, HSF2, or H
I've heard people mention that before but never any definitive results, or what exactly accounts for the speed difference, or whether it influences emu scripting or only affects real time play. I always assumed the emulator community would figure it out eventually and let us know. I mean there's ...

Re: SSF4 Combo Engine Investigation
In some situations you can get links to land meaty because of reel animations. eg. Against crouching Balrog, Ryu (don't remember who else) Blanka can do j.hk, far st.mp, cr.hk. The reel animation of the opponent reacting to the j.hk pushes their hitbox out of range of the first frame (or more?) of ...

Re: SF4 Plinking
You can't link legs from cr.lk because the fastest version (EX) comes out in 4 frames, and cr.lk only gives +2 on hit.

Re: SF4 Plinking
I think there's no renda-kara cancels like SF2 has.
Isn't Chun's cr.lk xx cr.lk, legs a renda kara cancel, or is it a special case?
Chun's cr.lk can chain into itself, but it's not special or super cancelable. The combo into legs shouldn't be possible unless it's a renda kara cancel or there's ...
