Re: Terminology/Glossary Series

Really? I know that Kara means empty in Japanese, though they actually don't use the term for the same meaning. I always thought kara cancel as like, cr.HK~LPshoryu with Ken in 3s, as in, 1st frame canceled into another move, but you can cancel whiffed moves in A2 into CCs. if you guys agree that t...

Re: Terminology/Glossary Series

... Well, I mean - how do you think i'm doing so far, just on definitions? "Kara cancel" and "empty cancel" are the same. "Kara" is just Japanese for empty. I tend to think that a "cross-up" is a move where it's not clear in which direction you need to block....

People have tried to do glossary/tutorial things in the past. They're a lot of work and hard to do well.

5 bars is pretty easy if you start a loop with an EX or FADC. Just like damage, the meter gain in combos is heavily front-loaded.

Re: My KoF XIII junk

... And tool assisting KoF XIII is a pain in the ass because the game doesn't run at a perfect 60fps so the timing isn't accurate. At first i thought the reason was the pad since I'm using it on a PS3 but when I was tool assisting the USF4 Gen combo for Doopliss, it pretty much always worked. So ba...

Re: USF4 Combo Engine Investigation

I do not understand why having the move be 2 frame startup would make is cancelable after the first active frame. I am aware that specials can be kara canceled on their first frame, so this would make sense to me if that move was 1-frame starup, but not 2. There are also already many specials in th...

Re: USF4 Combo Engine Investigation

It sounds like red focus will cost meter, maybe even two bars, so it won't be an infinite. It seems like an extremely situational gimmick, but we'll see. If it really sets up unscaled damage, i'm sure some characters will gain new max damage combos from it. By the way, having access to both ultras ...

Ok, I'm running down the parts to test the GIMX thing myself. Regardless, you have a choice - either try with the GIMX thing which will be a device that plugs from your computer into the console, or you can do the sort of stick mod that I did in the other thread with a microcontroller.

I'm not sure there's enough material to be had if you do just that. You're also likely to be skirting the limits of the dizzy system, and the combos will, most probably, require elaborate set-ups that are quite impractical without tool assistance.

Been thinking about this one. How would you define a combo to someone who has never played a fighting game? It's...really damn hard. "A series of attacks in which each hit guarantees the next?" doesn't quite cut it, but that's the furthest I got. Actually, the hits don't have to be guaran...
