Kirby Return to Dreamland Combos by TheVidyaEsquire

While this obviously isn’t a fighting game, there’s a clear fighting game genre influence in Kirby games – both in terms of character movesets and combat overall. You have to admit, it’s pretty fun to watch Kirby simulating fighting game combos on a proper Training Mode stage.

highlights:
KRtD Kirby boomerang Cutter juggle at 0:01, Kirby corner Spark infinite at 1:02, Kirby midscreen Bomb cascade at 1:25, and Kirby Fighter Hadoken to Shoryuken combo at 1:55

Credit to fullmetalross for the suggestion. I never would’ve thought to search for a Kirby combo video.

  2. Snoooootch says:

This is very unorthodox as far as my idea of combo video making, but, its awesome, adorable, new, and did I say awesome?!

  3. Doopliss says:

The only thing that suprises me more than somebody doing a Kirby CV is the fact that the game seems to have a training mode? XD

  4. SofaKingAC says:

Welp… this game just moved way up on my “to get” list.

  5. TheVidyaEsquire says:

    Some more info:
The dummy has two states, spinning and floating. Spinning is the technical “in combo” state for the dummy, but is hard to get to. A wall bounce or grab will put the dummy into this state consistently. The dummy flashes red faster when it has taken more damage and will eventually die.
Also Kirby has invincible frames during moves and can cancel out of some moves with a dash or another move. There are charge moves, dashing moves, and explicit combos. Game has a lot of basic fighting game elements.

It was probably not meant to be taken seriously…but it was fun to make regardless.

I love the music. It’s so Kirby. I just love non-fighting game combo videos. Would be cool to randomly see a combo like this in the next collab.

What? I love the kirby series but have never touched this game, I’m really excited now

Haha I could hardly believe my eyes as I loaded up this website.
As someone who considers himself a pretty big Kirby-fan, I enjoyed this video thoroughly, very nice job. Thanks for posting too.

So sad that Europe has to wait one more month for this title to arrive, thankfully Mass Attack is also a highly great game.
