MatchVid of the Day: Shoryu Shoryu!! (SF3:3S)

Forget about the Ken players – this one’s all about the insanely single-minded commentator. Can you guess his favorite word?

players: KO (Ken-SA3) vs Deshiken (Ken-SA3)

observations:
He makes excellent “Shoryu Shoryu!!” reads at 0:26 and 0:30, but definitely gets baited into guessing wrong at 0:52. He doesn’t allow that mistake to break his rhythm and makes an excellent recovery at 0:59. Unfortunately it still affects his confidence and leads to a huge missed opportunity at 2:20. Sadly, Ken’s dominant s.MP rushdown at 2:50 seals the match and cheats him of one last chance to redeem himself. Yet it stands as a strong performance overall.

    observations:
Clearly had a solid game plan but fumbled early on by missing the bait at 0:21 so he can focus on double Shoryu reads. He manages to correctly observe the general tone of the commentator but focuses too narrowly on on a single aspect and doesn’t mention the screaming accomplishing super combos. He makes up for it later in the paragraph with insight on the disappointing ending. Over all very solid observations, but a lot of that credit has to go to the energetic commentator he was commenting on.

Why do you guys hate throws? I don’t see either one of you mentioning the commentator shouting them!
