538 never ceases to amaze. And with my 3S main to boot!
I’ve been kicking around an idea: Why not make something like Magnetro’s Variable Atmosphere 2 Explanation vids, but for KYSG’s stuff?
When I think about it, it would be something of a continuation of when I wrote up transcripts of some KYSG vids for NewChallenger.net back in ’05-’06, just much more in-depth than those.
My biggest issue in terms of undertaking something like this would be the editing aspect (since the only video editing software I have on me at current is laughably outdated). Then there’s the “Training Mode Only” combos…
That’s small potatoes. I propose we hold a live streamed telethon to raise $500,000 and use the proceeds to commission a life-size gold statue of 538.
Of course i have no idea how much that would actually cost, so if there’s any money left over we’ll use it to buy the single most expensive diamond we can afford. Then we’ll crush it over the statue for an exquisite diamond powder finish.
I’d love to do explanations for 538’s videos, but it probably be important to have the author’s input on everything. For VA2, I recorded while Magnetro listened, and even the phrasing of explanations was collaborative; I wanted to make sure I said everything that he wanted people to know. (On a side-note, thank you if you watched all those videos!)
You know, even if typed up a lot of the stuff 538 does/uses in his videos, I’m sure that’s only scratching the surface; there’s still a lot about the game I don’t know – probably a lot of stuff that ONLY 538 knows. I’d love to have him write transcripts, but with 9 full volumes behind him, and the way he’s described being exhausted with 3s, I doubt he’d want to – and I don’t blame him, there’s a lot going on here.
More importantly, what would the gold statue look like? Could it just be the numerals “538” in gold? I’m sure he’d appreciate that.
I don’t know, i have no idea what he looks like. Anyway it’s a symbolic gesture so it doesn’t matter what it ends up looking like.
We can just make a life-size gold replica of Gill wearing an 80’s hip hop style “538” chain around his neck. Diamond powder everywhere! On the statue, on the floor, in our respiratory systems!
For the record, i would very much enjoy it if one or two 3S experts decided to discuss this video in detail. But from my experience, people generally aren’t willing to do that for one reason (laziness) or another.
So i’ve learned not to ask for it. If it happens, it happens.
I’d love to, but i feel like there are people who are better suited for it (xenozip, slimx come to mind), but they seem to have other things going on. I just have nothing better to do and know slightly more than the average 3s player – probably as much as you, frankly
I understand it insofar as it’s a Street Fighter game, but i never got around to learning all of 3rd Strike’s juggle numbers and rule exceptions.
Won’t stop me from making this the Vid of the Week for 09.13.2010 though!
