Tutorial vids for older games?
Just looking for an opinion on this; is making a tutorial for an older game worth it? I ask because I'm considering making a guide explaining the momentary system from SFEX3 in-depth, but at the same time I wonder who'll actually get use out of it. Granted, there are people who still play it at a high level, and people still release stuff for SSF2T (though it's more popular). Thoughts?

It's worth doing if you love the game and it matters to you that five people across the planet might play it (better) because of your tutorial.
It's not worth doing if you think the community needs it or will appreciate it.

Wow, that's pretty deep. That said, I'll more than likely end up making it (whenever I stop being lazy, lol). I've done tutorials for far more obscure games that I'm into, so in that regard this would actually be a step up from that. Thanks!Maj wrote:It's worth doing if you love the game and it matters to you that five people across the planet might play it (better) because of your tutorial.

I personally always enjoy a well-produced tutorial, regardless of how applicable it is...there was a great video for Immaterial and Missing Power - it actually made me less interested in playing it as it further explained the game mechanics, but it was really interesting to learn, either way. I like ST and CvS2 vids, even though I'm never going to have any real competition in those games.
Anyway, a good tutorial (which can end up as a documentary for the game, really) can be great to watch, regardless of the subject matter, I think...though the audience that thinks that way is small. If you ever want to do Third Strike stuff, I'm down to write/narrate/capture/throw random useless shit out there. I'm down to narrate/write/etc. anything, really.
