Anyone find a way to solve the audio desync (the longer the video runs, the more desync it gets) issue that me, Remxi and CPS2 seem to have? I thought it was my PC acting up but since other people seem to have it, I would assume it's a MeGUI issue.

After googling a bit it seems to be a problem with the HD PVR and the way the frame rate/sampling rate for the video/audio is reported (some kind mismatch between 60fps audio and 59.94fps video perhaps???). I'm sure there is a way to fix it by playing around with Avisynth options like ConvertFPS or AssumeFPS or something but I can't figure that out. In fact it might even have something to do with the capture settings in Total Media Extreme, there's just too many variables for me to bother narrowing it down. I did manage to find a soulution to it though. I use Audacity (free audio editing program) to simply stretch or compress the tempo of the audio file before remuxing it to the video. For example the last vid I tried to do, the video ended up being 4:04:572, but the audio was slightly longer at 4:05:520. I opened the audio in Audacity and used the "Change Tempo" effect to compress the audio so it was the exact length of the video. Not exactly an elegant solution but at least it works.

I sometimes get dysync when I put mp4s on u2b, but I don't seem to have that problem with mkvs.
try using the indexer in megui instead of directshowsource, it can normally fix any video problems you might have.

So I've done what you instructed CPS2, and it works... kinda. Problem is I get no sound even though I set audio to true. I can still get it by being ghetto and changing the suffix of the M2TS-file to mpg and then converting it to MP3 in youtubedownloader, but I'd perfer to not do that. Also, the sound file is slightly shorter than the video, but if I set them to start at the same time it syncs perfectly from what I can tell, so it's probably just because it stops recording audio before video or something, and not the glitch you guys are discussing.

I'd prefer not having to use this process though, so if anyone has any tips, that would be super. Also, the sound file I got from converting the source was REALLY loud, is there a simple way to change this? I'm afraid it will start cracking up after a while like it did with my old Capture Card. You can already hear some cracking in the test below.

This is what I ended up with. Details in the description.

I think i forgot to mention before that the encoder setting I use for audio is LAME MP3: *scratchpad*, extention MP3 and no delay. If you set audio to true in the script then it should automatically select the file for you. Hope it helps...

When I try switching it to LAME MP3, it just shuts itself down during preproccessing. Do I need to download something?

I don't think so... hm I'm not really sure what would be causing that...

I see, I'll just keep converting the source file to MP3 with youtube downloader then, it's actually quite simple.

But just how do you queue files? From what I'm doing now, it seems I have to enter every clip manually, change the audio from false to true every time etc.

Yeah you pretty much have to set them up each time, but you can encode a whole lot at once. If your scripts are all the same though, you can save time just by re-using the same script...

How do you do that, though?

I'm assuming people just keep a template in notepad or something... I don't reuse the same script because I always end up having to trim videos, and everything else seems to take a split second compared to that.

All I do is changing the audio from false to true, so something like that would be more compex. Thanks though.

Ok, I've had it with megui. It slaughters the quality of the clip, it's horrible to work with, and for some reason it refuses to renders this one clip correctly, and just gives me a single frame instead of video. There MUST be a simpler way to convert stuff? I can't see everyone with a HD PVR having to go through all this.

You should be able to do it without any quality loss ( at the cost of file size ), but I'll admit it can be complex
take a look at super c

The files I get from the capture card are quite small as it is, so that wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

Found a DL that worked now. The result is really nice, it's quite simple to use. However, the problem is I'm getting some tearing after I do the final rendering in Vegas. This has never happened before, and the rendered file looks just fine before I run it through vegas... this is.. annoying. I don't suppose you have any ideas what's causing it either? I can upload a sample if you think that'll help.

When encoding the files, I can choose between two encoders (FFmpeg and MEncoder), and 5 different fourCC (whatever that is) (DIVX, DX50, XVID, MP4V, FMP4). And idea which one I should use? If not, I'll just test them all and different containers, some are bound to work better, right?

Also, my antivirus really isn't digging this, you sure it's OK?

Here you can see what I'm talking about (notice when the screen moves from the tag cancel). The tearing is pretty much consistant whatever I do, I've tried multiple settings in both Super c and Vegas, still stays the same. I hope I can solve it somehow, because it's the ONLY downside so far. It's even there when I render it uncompressed in vegas!

Another encoder i used to use is mediacoder. I liked everything about it, except it kept crashing when i'd encode massive files from after effects. Anything under 1GB should be fine though i think.

I'll try it if I can't get this to work. I'm trying it without BFrames now, feels like something that could cause this.

I don't really see the tearing
is the input fps and the output ( from vegas ) fps the same?

They appear as small delays at certain horizontal rows, I guess tearing isn't the right word.

But removing BFrames seems to have fixed it. Thanks for the tip error, this program is both simple and effective. Let's just hope it's not filled with viruses like my antivirus thinks XD

Error, do you think you remember how you deinterlaced my 360 clips? I can't do it in Super C, so I guess I'll have to do it in MeGUI, get a .MKV, and then change that MKV into a format I can work with using Super C.

Doesn't work, says it can't load it.

EDIT: That's because that's not where I have the MeGui files, gonna correct it.

EDIT2: Yeah, that worked. Thanks a bunch!

And now it doesn't work anymore. I have no idea what's going on. I recorded a few things from my 360. MeGUI scrambles the video completely when I try to render it, and Super c makes the video play at varying speeds. Frankly, I'm at a loss. I just hope this doesn't affect my PS3 files in the future.

same capture card with the same codec?
Most of that kind of thing is caused by codec issues. Encoding it with directshowsource should make it look the same as when you play it in wmp

But I'm already using directshowsource :? But yeah, I did everything exactly like I did last time, but now it didn't work all of a sudden.
