because they are so dumb I actually like watching blanka vs blanka, honda vs honda, guile vs guile, sagat vs sagat. All the stupid mirrors. That said, blanka vs blanka is no fun to play.

i still wish that one video of "sonic boom! sonic boom! sonic boo-sonic boom!" was still on youtube. it was exactly as it sounded...one guile ate a sonic boom, then at 4 seconds realized he had to do something. to not lose due to the health deficit.

you can imagine how it went.

These matches are incredible. Poongko turned into a beast over the past months. It's crazy. . . very inspirational.

Yes, I really enjoy when the game shows us extra stuff through the manipulation of the characters. Like one of my ken combos in which I tried to juggle dhalsim as high as possible, I saw the whole ceiling of the Training stage. I've also sat watching the people in certain stages linger and do what they do. Just to see if I can catch something that's gone unnoticed. The one that made me laugh was that little boy with the widows peak on the overpass stage.

most likely EX Rekka, because kicks > Punches.
Maybe Doopliss isn't kicking ass, but he's taking names.

Clever application of it, i would guess the small delay of hitting focus would screw up an OS throw (If Seth was doing that) I shouldbe taking notes here, as i play Seth. looks like he's got some kind of safe jump after his SRK's followed by another if they don't quick wakeup.

Haha this is just plain mean.

V-Charlie vs A-Gen at a-cho

Of course he had to guess right like three times during that combo, but it looks so damn painful! And it's a lot of fun watching Gen use that lvl1 countdown super effectively (at 7:20 and 12:25). Also props for trying to hit the Sonic Boom at 35:35.

is it just 'cause of the usefulness of his dash super and anti-air super, or does he have other things in A that he doesn't in V?

From what I've read (SFAA Strategy Guide), Gen's V-Ism combos are pretty terrible in match play:

"Gen doesn't have a single useful Variable Combo at his disposal. The only one available is almost impossible to realistically perform in a match. It is highly reccomended that you avoid V-ISM as your mode choice when using Gen."
~Strategy Guide

And then there's X-Ism that ditches the form change, instead giving you an odd mesh of moves from both forms rolled into one. So yeah, A-Ism's the clear winner.

Can i ask, it's been a long time since i played Alpha?

Was X-ism at all useful? from what i saw when i played, X-ism was simply

- One special
- No Block gauge
- No air guard

Which sucked sompared to A-ism... Di it offer anything special? I remember ryu's Shinku hadouken looked different in X-ism than it did in A-ism, but it seemed to act in the exact same manner.

You had a block gauge, and it was huge. You also generally do more dizzy/regular damage and (maybe) take less of the aforementioned. Movelists can also be different (Zangief has more hop-headbutt, no command sweep (df+HK)), basically the "X" in "X-ISM" is supposed to be from Super Street Fighter II X (the ST original Japanese name), so it's like they wanted the Super Turbo feel in A3.

one super you mean

xism has a guard gauge, it's just longer

Besides a damage boost I think all the differences are character specific.
rolento has weird jumps, adon has wierd jumping kicks, cammy has chain combos etc

I like playing x Sagat, his mp is a better poke and he can cancel his cl.hk and c.mk

It should be noted that X-Ism had CPS1 chains, that is, rapid-fire light attacks that can be chained into a heavy attack by pressing said light button and hey button simultaneously. For example, Sakura could do cr. LK x2 > HP > Sho'o Ken and do quite a bit of damage. Chun-Li was also pretty stupefied in this mode as well. Of course, you did have the downside of taking more damage and a lack of air-blocking in this mode, but a few characters (Chun, Rolento, Adon) were able to function at their peak-in X-Ism.

He has his ST stuff where Yoga Fire didn't disappear after a certain distance (LP one even knocked down), and access to his ST Super which can fully hit as an anti-air. The main downsides are that you can't choose between long and short limbs at any distance, and no Yoga Escape means that you have to eat Custom Combos like the rest of the cast.

gonna have to get some fun screenshots of guile's U2 when AE hits PC...one awesome thing would be to get an SF4 3D Sonic Hurricane logo for your site, even though I know you want to use the CV site for more combo projects. we need more special moves called "combo vid"
