Battle of destiny: event videos

Post by desk »

So there was a big UK tournament back in july called battle of destiny. I created several videos for the event and I thought I'd share them. Though there are some combo's and stuff in there, there main purpose was to inform and hype :)

The first vid was looped over both days on a big projector. It might seem a tad on the uninteresting side in places but it had to big long and it is split up with some cool bits and some gameplay. The aim was to showcase everything that was going on.

Notes: After tekken 5 has been introduced, notice that the rain and lightning effects overflow from the actual clip into the scene around it. You can even make out the shadows and stuff created by the lighting strikes. This took quite a while and is pointless, horray!! Also all of the tekken sprites were painstakingly animated by me. The video wasn't created to music, I just whapped on that particularly awesome track so I could put it up on youtube and it wouldn't be silent.

For, the second one. I had to construct a video around a short voice over sample. I was giving little to no brief but I think it came out ok. the last 2 combos, although obscured by effects, text and speed changes are both 100%. This vid would be shown before the finals took place and lots of smoke machines got carried away with themselves.

And finally here's the trailer, I hate the font but I was told to use it

though not officially sanctioned by maj, you can win points for spotting any easter eggs that might be hidden in the long event vid (you'll probably win entirely worthless desk points but you know you want them)

I might do a tiny and rubbish compilation of all the combo/set up clips just so they aren't wasted. Not sure if I can be bothered though.

oh yeah and I hope this is a suitable thread for this board, let me know if not. thanks.

Of course it's a suitable thread dude - these videos are wicked awesome! Third Strike sprites mashing buttons for meter made me laugh. That whole voiceover video was done really well, and so was Darth Vader's intro in the Official BoD Trailer.

Exactly how many easter eggs are there? I'm down to award two points to the first person who spots all of them and posts them in this thread.

Thanks man, I realise non-combo vids aren't hugely interesting so I appreciate the feedback.

Well, chuns bike guy is in there somewhere but I don't think anyone will ever spot that. And there's some hidden references to the event itself that I don't draw attention to. I don't think anyone notices them.

I don't blame anyone for not trying to spot them so I'll probably just post stuff up at some point. They stop at 3:20, so there's nothing after the tournament game intro's (that's supposed to be a clue).

In case anyone developed a love of T-square after listening to that track (like me) here they are live.

It might actually be my favourite piece of music of all time, lol.

Sorry dude i tried, but i wasn't feeling the sound of that wind instrument, whatever it was.

How many of us were present at BoD? Actually now that i think about it, didn't there used to be more European combo video makers?
