Animated Hitbox Data!

Post by Xenozip. »

Mauve, our hero, has done it again.

While there's probably only a grand total of three (maybe secretly four) people on this forum that care about IaMP in any way shape or form, please take a look at this:

Reimu 2B Hitbox Animation

But wait, there's more:

Reimu jump A Hitbox Animation

In fact, there's a whole bunch of them here in this photobucket: IaMP

Mauve has created a tool in which to decode and render the hittable box, attack box, and physical box for the cast of IaMP. This is incredibly exciting for us, and also for the Japanese players. Of course, the top players all have pretty good rough estimates, but nothing like this!

Looking at a single frame from a mook that shows a hittable box and attack box for something like a rekka ken is kind of disheartening, especially when you know both boxes change multiple times during the animation and you're unable to clearly see the physical (throwable) box. Thus, it's a shame data sheets like these don't exist for other games. Or if they do, it's a shame I don't know of them.

Anyway this is so gdlk. If you want to imagine just how I feel about this, try and picture these animations existing for [insert your favorite game] such as ST, MvC2, CvS2, SF3, GG, etc... bananas.. bananas!

Damn that is dope. Really dope.

I actually played a few more matches... Some against mauve. Got owned for sucking at grazing ahha.

This tool is amazing and mauve is a genius wizard guy. I wish there was stuff like this for more games as well. The cvs 2 guide book if I remember right had this kind of stuff for some moves but I think that was all guesses no real tools.

And now in video form, for those who like videos.

Hitbox Viewer Demonstration, Suika Ibuki

Also the EyeAmp photobucket was updated to include a Marisa set that has the alpha overlays on top of frames.

Its funny to me that alot of the hitboxes in Iamp are wayyyyy out in front of the characters. Not alot of hittable boxes mixed with hitboxes. I wonder why suika's jumping b hitbox is a cross like that.. and not just a bigger box... seems kind of odd. It should be bigger!

Also those evasions are pretty silly.

Suika's j.B has that fire explosion effect. And likewise her 236A firepunch is also a cross (and a fire explosion). I gather some one had the idea that some explosions have unique shapes instead of just radial blasts.

Gameplay-wise, you could look at it like if you were to jump vertically away from it as apposed to diagonally. And as a jumpin the kick as slightly better range vertically and horizontally than diagonally. Which kinda makes sense.

But, don't ask me what tasofro was/is thinking with these sorts of things. According to Mauve, who has spent way too much time looking at their code in several games, they are officially bananas.

You'll notice Yuyuko's hittable box actually disappears for this one.

yuyuflip-anim2.gif

The means things like DP moves that have melee invulnerability but still contain a hittable box can be hit by type-3 moves, but this flip can't be hit by anything at all since it contains absolutely no hittable box whatsoever, lol.

We can do this with HDR now.

Yanno, it'd be cool if we could enable hitbox mode in actual match play rather than just training mode. Then goto that frame of animation for all the details on a reversal hit or something.

How would it be done in HDR, is that an available option?

It should also be possible for GGXX#R and Isuka, and SF4 when it's released for the PC in a month or so.

showing hitboxes is an available option now in HDR. One problem I see though is that you can't turn the background black... at lesat I don't think you can, not on purpose anyway lol. So you'd have to do a lot of image editting to edit out the background.

Okay, so I was watching this: Vampire Hunter plus' combo movie By TKO (All Character Exhibition 1/3)

I sure would like to know how he applied the hitbox data to that video.

Also Vanguard Princess has a working built-in hitbox viewer like EFZ; seen here.

Some other doujin game had it too but it was glitchy as hell so w/e.

Sorry dude, i got nothin'. But searching for "vampire hunter tko" on u2b brought up this:

vampire hunter combo part1 by keyboardmasterTKO

If it's not the same video, maybe you can try contacting the guy and asking if he has the old version?

Ah thanks. Yeah that's the same video.

Hitboxes overlayed presumably while playing. If he manually added them in then that is just insane.

Oh, may be. The only version I played was VSAV on the Saturn.

Well Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge on Saturn there is a special mode that you have to get into and with that you can put the collison detection boxes on. So it seems that the game you have, you been able to do it all the time

Read the link above, I saw it in there....Hope that helps.

Apparently the dev version had frame advance as well. <shrug />
Still not terrible even with backgrounds - you could probably hack them to black with some effort.
