Evo West 2007

Post by jchensor »

Just wanted to say it was really fun at Evo West, particularly kickin' it with laugh while the two of us played the Wolfe brothers in ST. ^_^ That was a lot of fun!! I would have kicked it with Magnetro to play MvC2 except that... I can't play that game worth garbage. ^_^ And Goryus was there, but I think I talked to him and didn't even realize that you were Goryus. Really sorry about that. :(

Hope to see everyone at Evo Worlds!

Evo West was the BOMB. Such a sick tournament. I had so much fun all weekend.

It was really nice to finally talk to you in person, James. Had a lot of fun playing ST with the Wolfe brothers for sure. You have a hella cheap ass bison just standing there while I squeeze my brand trying to figure out which move I should do. lol. j/k. We should play again.

Magnetro got the command packs and ran away. j/k. I asked this random guy that didn't even look like you to see if he was you, and a guy you were rooming with overheard me and told me that he knew you. Next time, we should play marvel. I'll let you pick characters from the left side screen only.

If only Maj was there, it would've broke the 3 year record I've known him online but not offline. I'll see you for sure this year at Vegas though.

I can't wait for all the videos, especially ST (which I didn't get to watch cuz I didn't want to spend 30 bucks on a badge) cvs2 and marvel. The crowd was so loud and funny during cvs2 and marvel, and all the matches were dope as hell.

See you all at Worlds.

rofl @ jchensor. It's OK, I don't stand out much, and I don't use my forum nick. (I was the guy who kept asking you to officiate double blind selection during the ST matches.)

laugh - which one were you? I don't think we were introduced, or if we were, I didn't realize it was you.

Double blind, huh? Were you the guy with the glasses who kept picking Zangief? Derek was the name I believe...

That's cool. You shoulda said something to me. ^_^ I had no idea!

Yep, that was me. (And you're correct, my name is Derek.)

I would have said something, but I thought you knew. O_o

By the by, I kept asking for double-blind selection because last year I was knocked out by someone who saw me pick 'gief and immediately counter-picked Honda. So my strategy this year was to ask for double-blind selection for the first match. If they lose and then switch to Honda, Chun, or 'Sim, I get last chance to counter pick. Worked pretty well - my two losses were to Alex Wolfe and Ed Ma, and I should have beat Ed, but I missed the super that would have killed him. :(

Oh well. I'll see you at Evo World!

Sounds like my weekend as well. I lost to Alex Wolfe and Sirlin, though I should have beaten Sirlin! ^_^ I had Dave down to a few slivers of life with my whole life bar full, and one too slow jump cost me the entire round. :-( And I came close to beating Alex as well. I took him to a full 3 games, and one round of the third game was down to whomever hit the button first in the air. *sigh* Just means I gotta keep practicing.

Damn, guess i missed out bigtime. I asked a few of my friends ahead of time if they were going, but they all seemed apathetic about it. Then on Monday morning i found out they all ended up going. That's what i get for leaving it all up to the last minute.

I heard sicdic was there too .......

Well i'm planning on going to Evo World. Maybe not the whole thing but at least one of the days. Sunday definitely, Saturday maybe, Friday probably not. If i just drive out there on Sunday morning, i can just park my car for free at some random casino right? Kick down some protips plz.

There is no such thing as paying for parking in Vegas. Those casinos will do everything in their power to make sure getting into them is as convenient and easy as possible.

Yeah, it's getting back out that's the problem.

Ever been to the Excalibur? They have a huge, long walkway going down into the casino. It's a very long walk to get in, but it's all downhill and there's a moving sidewalk you can use, so it goes by pretty quick.

Of course, when you're going the other way, there's no people-mover, so you have to walk...and the reversal of directions means the whole thing is sharply uphill. Plus it gets hotter and hotter the further away from the casino, and closer to the street, you get.

Those guys that designed Vegas are evil geniuses.

See, you need something like a guile keychain, then everyone will recognize you instantly.

I'm afraid Maj has the 1up on you there.

Haha....

My friend snuck into comic-con and bought a $90 Guile toy for 8 bucks! Then security was checking everyone one by one and he somehow managed to sneak out again! Anyway, I keep insisting that he give that toy to Majestros.

I'll wear something interesting that people only on SH will get. I haven't decided on what yet, but i'm sure it will be noticable

We need to have some sort of secret meeting or something. Hahaha. If anything, let's all try and grab lunch together or something on Saturday. It'll be really tough for me, since I'll be busy NONSTOP at Evo. *sigh*

By any chance, anyone here fluent in Japanese and in English and is willing ot make Evo less fun for themselves? Hahaha...
