No i meant fireball xx super xx ultra, the ultra connects first, then the fireball connects, then profit???

Apparently that's not possible. No big deal.

Doopliss wrote:Well, unblockables work on the same principe, doesn't it? You activate the ultra on the same frame that the projectile connects.
you activate the frame before the fireball hits, but the difference is academic

Doesn't that depend on what character you use? I mean, sometimes the character is hit during the freeze, sometimes he gets hit after.

no
if you look at the frame data for a super it's something like 1+2
that 1 is the frame that takes place during super freeze
if you look at ultra frame data it's the same 1+6
that 1 is a normal speed frame before the ultra freeze
even though it's a normal speed frame the game is still frozen and the game doesn't accept inputs.

so the way the unblockables work is to activate the ultra the frame before the opponent gets up so that they are hit on the frame before the ultra freeze

I see. I didn't play around much with that mechanic.

OMG! MAJ! I figured out a 4 of a kind combo for Fei Long! I always come in late with these... But the combo is..

On Seth:
neutral Jump hp (deep close to landing) counter, HK chicken wing, cl HP, mk flame kick, FADC, MK Chicken Wing. Seth becomes Dizzy. Now, I taunt, or whatever, then do, EX Chicken Wing, cl HP, LK Chicken Wing!

I'll record it when I get home from work!

To answer error1's earlier question, i think the max number of fireballs in a Dan combo is seven. Something like:

Dan meaty LP FB vs Chun Li crouch, s.HP xx HP FB, c.MK xx HP FB xx FADC, s.HP xx HP FB, c.MK xx HP FB xx FADC, s.HP xx HP FB, c.MK xx HP FB

The reason it's not in the video is because it's rather complicated setting up that first fireball. I'm close to figuring it out but there are still a few more details to iron out, and i didn't want to delay releasing the video any longer. Plus when i do record this combo, it'll replace the existing combo vs Chun Li. And that setup was too pretty not to use somewhere.

You can replace that last HP FB with MP FB and it'll still combo, but you still don't get enough frame advantage to link another c.MK or walk forward c.LK or whatever. If you could, then you'd set it up to kill and get a post-KO eighth fireball.

But the problem is, the whole reason this combo works is because Chun Li is a dummy who doesn't lean back from c.MK hit stun, so you can't get that seventh fireball meaty enough to link another c.MK afterwards. If she did lean back, then the whole combo would fall apart much earlier.

So it's kind of a double-edged sword. But i don't know, there might be a solution. If not, then all you can really do is KO with the 7th fireball and get a free s.MK or something.

Haha I know I should expect this by now but I still get blown away by every one of your TACV vids. Mid-combo Dan kick crossup, Mid-combo meaty LP DP, Chun-Li FB negation setup were brilliant. Love the vs Rufus and Honda combos as well.

Great job on Dan... I ws stunned you could come up with anything. Loved the cross up EX SRK, & the great Vega combo.

yeah, good job with dan, as much as I love sf4 dan I really think capcom could have made him a much more interesting character. Whats next? Sagat?

Actually i really like the Dan combo vs Chun Li. That was the third-to-last one i recorded, before the vs-Seth and vs-Honda combos, but both of those were basically formalities. If the vs-Chun combo had rebuilt enough meter to FADC a second fireball, i don't think i'd have to apologize for Dan at all. But i came up with that setup way after i made the SSF4 teaser clip and the meter situation didn't work out in the end, so ... What can i say? Almost.

Sagat's next. I'm gonna try to finish it soonish, but we'll see what happens.

Sagat's a tough one, the max damage I've been able to get from him is simple 733 damage dizzy combo vs Seth. He has been pretty well explored for how simple his combos are.

Interrupting his Ultra right before his last DP may allow for something, and whiffing a Fake kick between combos may look pretty stylish.

Do you mean interrupted with a projectile, or the way it cancels itself when you try it on Rose and other instances? I agree with the Fake Kick style, but I'm pretty sure it's too damn slow.

yeah, it's slow, but faster than a lot of other things. ANd yeah, interrupt it. something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcGngsbQWGs
but enhanced. idk, just an idea.

kind of worthless beacuse the only thing that has enough juggle potential is super. How about trade the first upper in the ultra with turn punch, f+hk, super, ultra

So much for this plan. As i'm sure you all know, you can't use knockdown/wakeup to set up a meaty attack against a crouching opponent in SF4. They're always standing during the first vulnerable frame after wakeup, so you always get standing hit stun.

I found a workaround: Have the opponent whiff a crouching attack as a wakeup reversal to bypass that standing transition. Of course it requres 1-frame reversal timing without the benefit of SF4's massive special move buffer window. But it works. You get a counterhit meaty with the dummy crouching.

The problem is, you need a little distance between Dan and Chun Li to make the LP Gadoken connect. If you're too close, it'll go right past her crouching attack. (From what i've seen, Chun's c.MK is the least slippery one to use.)

Anyway that little gap is too wide for s.HP xx HP Gadoken to combo. Yes, it's as dumb as it sounds. I tried it a bunch of different ways, making Dan walk forward after the Gadoken and everything. It just doesn't work. Dan sucks at success. As far as i know, this particular non-EX fireball loop only works against Chun Li in SF4. There might be other candidates in SSF4 but i'm not interested in looking there.

I'm going to try the same setup against non-knockdown air reel landing, but there's no reason for that to work any better, so i'll probably just end up using this wakeup trick to revise the vs-Honda combo and call it a day.

Vega really needs a counterhit trade button. I tested all of his non-knockdown attacks with and without the claw, even his jumping attacks, and nada.

I tried it using LP Soul Spark, but Sagat's ultra is so slow that there isn't even enough time to add a jump attack beforehand. Keep in mind, that guy cheats by making Rose airborne so the ultra only connects five times, which is way quicker.

Anyway all you can do is 8-hit ultra followed by 4-hit super or 1-hit EX DP. You'd think the dramatic impact freeze would be long enough to whiff a bunch of stuff before the super, but all you really get is one Tiger Knee or maybe one LP DP.

Does anyone remember whose combovid had the uninterrupted incomplete ultra vs Rose? I remember seeing it somewhere (maybe on the jungle stage?) but i don't remember how the rest of the combo went and i want to avoid repeating it.

when are you planing on releasing this? I've got five vanilla sagat combos for the upcoming vid with desk, I have a feeling you're going to be done first. Not a big deal if we end up with the same stuff, we have plenty.

At this rate, most likely next Friday the 27th. I have three clips recorded and two more combos plotted out which i'll probably record this weekend. I've got a few more ideas i want to test, but i get the feeling none of it is gonna work out. Plus it's starting to get a little repetitive because there's only so many ways to combo into super.

When's your video due out?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Actually i think he's a pretty interesting character. After mine's done, let me know if i've duplicated any of your combos, because i'm sure i'll have a bunch of unused info left over that i can give you - just because Sagat has a lot of stylish tricks which blend into similar combos that would look bad if you put them back to back in one video.

Well, i'm done capturing clips - ended up with eight combos. Totally ran out of good costume colors in the process and had to make him wear the tights. Might be able to release it tonight if i have time to edit.

Damn though, now i'm really curious to see what you've had recorded. Like, do you know about Bison/Blanka? Or how to make EX Tiger Knee cross up without counterhit? Haha i'd love to see what you've got so far, but i guess i can wait until you're done. Couple of months, huh?

nah, it nothing really high level, I think the sagat ones are some of my least inspired combos for this. Just showing some of the changes he had, beacuse he had some of the most changes.
You know me tho, normally I would show them off here as I recoded them but I not taking responsibility for these beacuse it's a joint project if that makes any sense.

Found something dumb just now, while trying to verify whether a pointless 1-frame kara got recorded. I was mashing forward dash with Dhalsim and backdash with Sagat to get them in the corner, and Dhalsim slipped under Sagat. Looks like the corner is required for them to switch sides, but it's pretty easy to do. Haha Sim can probably dash under a bunch of people's backdashes. Though i wouldn't be surprised if this was known already.
