I have a friend who used to always go out in the rain, she's an interesting gal. I love the rain too, but it's too cold for me to stay out, so what I enjoy most is the feeling of getting out of the rain and taking a nap. That post-rain nap is the best shit ever.

Seriously, though, when you aren't used to that, and it starts hailing like mad, and it sounds like your car is getting damaged, it's pretty scary. Hahaha. The trick is, once you live out here, you really can't help but be like this. During lunch, while I was sitting indoors, people had their CAMCORDERS OUT recording the hail on the ground as if it were some alien force. No joke.

I still remember a conversation I had with Derek Daniels. One of my favorite stories to tell. This was when he lived in the midwest and we were chatting online.

"Man, it's cold today," I said.

"How cold is it?" asked Derek.

"It's like low 60's here!!" I responded.

"Right now, it's -11 with wind chill factor where I am," Derek said.

Hahahaha!! I felt kinda dumb. But even so, afterwards, Derek moved to Cali and one night said it was hella cold when it was only 60 degrees out. And since Justin moved here, he's complained about cold several times... having come from New York! Something about SoCal just... makes you prissy, I guess. Haha.

Yeah, I remember the first time I went to Florida it was Christmas/NewYears and on day-1 while I was there Weatherman on the news was like "Better get out your winter clothing, we have a cold front coming in! Lows of 60---"

I was like "what", standing there in shorts and a t-shirt, practically sweating.

And then on day-2 I discovered they play reggaeton and techno on both the radio and a couple TV stations. You do not get that around here.

But at the time I just felt sad more than anything else. I want to live in a place where the coldest it gets is 60 and people can speak more than one language fluently. Because seriously if you're in one layer of thin clothing for the winter and think it's cold out, then that's the kind of cold winter I want.

its sleeting here in chicago at about 25 degrees. For cali making you prissy, I don't think so. Your body probably just gets adjusted to the cold since theres a gradual progression. It isn't 80 degrees out one day and its snowing and hailing the next at minus 13 degrees. Though typically it tends to be warmer when it snows but I digress.

I remember 2 stories in college the first was in my sophmore year I had a roommate from miami lol, When it started getting colder like 50 degrees he's in full winter gear and I'm still in shorts. Later on that winter (after the worst of it was over and going from averaging 0 degrees back up to 50 degrees), now he's wearing shorts saying how he never felt that 50 degree weather would ever feel warm to him. until now.

2 years later I was walking to class in november, its probably 30-40 degrees and its like 300ft between my dorm room and the building that I had class so I just wore regular cloths (t-shirt and shorts), I caught wind of some prissy people laughing at my for wearing shorts in the "cold" weather, so to spite them I wore shorts all winter long. Eventually one of the journalists from the college newspaper had asked me why I wore shorts all the time. "For spite" was my answer IIRC.

however these days I seem to have a harder time adapting to the cold.

Yeah it's about 25°F and we're in about 25 inches of snow. Expecting to hit over 30 inches and drop to 7°F by tomorrow. Some places in Western Maryland are already in 40+ inches. Should be interesting, repeat of what happened on Christmas. Prolly make a video of it this time since I kinda slacked off on that last time.
