A video project by Zar the Biscuit and I. Zar provided the majority of the replays and all the character combos, tactics, and scenarios. I handled the video related things.
In reality, this video release is pretty late because the arcade version of this game is arriving very soon (which will probably make a lot of these tactics obselete), but we still wanted to get the content released regardless of all that.
Thanks for watching.
Marilyn Sue Tutorial - Akatsuki Blitzkampf ver. 1.1.1.3 SP1
Re: Marilyn Sue Tutorial - Akatsuki Blitzkampf ver. 1.1.1.3
Great tutorial dude! Up until the seven-minute mark, my favorite part of the video was "(Never forget Blitztank)" but once you got to the advanced mixups, it got real interesting. Those corner mixups look like a lot of fun to do, probably a lot less fun to try to block all that madness.
I wish someone would make a tutorial like this for like Hyper Fighting.
Absolutely brilliant. Functions as a gateway to the real world while providing the viewer with a quick review of everything that the tutorial introduced earlier. This makes such a huge difference for newcomers to the game and people who aren't used to having to think so much about playing games in general.Marilyn Sue Speaks in Bubbles wrote:Here we have Marilyn applying her options in a real match scenario.

So I already know you agree that choreographed footage has applicable uses in videos. And now we get to see a taste of it in action.Maj wrote:Absolutely brilliant. Those segments were, of course, choreographed.
Looks like Jolly Ranchers & Baskin's Sherbet.

Oh there's no question that it's got promise. My only objection was that it's a ton of work to put one together.
It's a great idea to include some kind of an recap at the end of a tutorial video though. It doesn't necessarily have to be as elaborate as what you guys did with this video, but i think it would boost information retention significantly. Someone once told me that the three steps to a great presentation are: Tell 'em what you're going to tell 'em, tell 'em what you want to tell 'em, tell 'em what you just told 'em.

Thanks for the kudos.
Yeah, I really don't recommend doing something like a choreographed mock battle unless both parties involved in the replay creation like the game enough to spend time to do it and/or have immense amounts of patience to do 50~60 takes for 1 successful replay. A lot of the other replays were relatively easier to make, but I think Zar and I spent a whole afternoon trying to get the replays of that last minute down.
I suppose if you used slowdown tools or something it'd help a lot, but we didn't use anything of the sort. Just relied on hours of repetetions on training mode and versus mode. I have to admit though, trying to miss a grab or trying to get hit at specific frames on purpose was an odd experience.

Well my question is, did the script for the choreographed section change at any point?
And if so, how/why?
More specifically, I'm looking to see if it was modified off match experience of modified during the process of making it because you realized [x] about [z], and such.

Re: Marilyn Sue Tutorial - Akatsuki Blitzkampf ver. 1.1.1.3
Both applied, but it was mostly based off of match experience. Initially, Zar had an idea of what he wanted to show in the choreographed part based on what has worked and hasn't worked before in matches, but eventually added in a couple instances into the scenario based on what could be an "optimal" result of such a situation.Xenozip. wrote:More specifically, I'm looking to see if it was modified off match experience of modified during the process of making it because you realized [x] about [z], and such.
So basically, we used match experience as a base and then added things in to make it look dynamic/nicer.
