I would've posted this in CV recommendations thread but I'm pretty sure this isn't a legit channel. Amazing KoF '97 video with some lots of awesome new discoveries in it, too many to pick highlights.

I can't watch it, that animated bar the blocks the bottom left part of the screen is too distracting

Very stylish BBCS vid, which is refreshing 'cause most BB combo vids I come across are more on the practical or max hits side of things rather than style.

Aquapazza - Tamaki tutorial vid. First combo vid I've seen for this game. It's quite comprehensive and gives you a good idea of how all the strikers work.

Guilty Gear Ky TAS. Like the description says I saw parts of this in those Best of Guilty Gear compilation vids but this is the full version. This is the first footage of GG that I've watched and I have to say I really enjoy the aesthetics of it, it's so raw compared to the more polished versions that came later on. I just discovered that this is part of a series, there seems to be vids featuring Sol, Chipp and Millia too (just about to watch them now). :D

Awesome BBCS2 Jin combo video. Delicious backwards attacks (6A, 623D  )/crossunders and some cool ideas with air ice swords. Seriously, this vid is too good.

Now for something I never thought I'd see, 20 mins of Battle Fantasia combos! Easily the best material that has been recorded for this game. The second video is a big improvement over the first and also contains some interesting oki setups. Did anyone else here play this game?

Interesting Combo/Glitch/Tutorial Videos 2012-2015

Post by Magnetro »

So I guess this thread will be used to discuss any interesting videos that come out this year.

I'll start off with Izumojin's new MVC1 Video. So good!! A lot of "hits" are really cool. Like during the Wolverine combo, Wolvie gets tripped so he can roll to follow up & he uses the drill claw to scroll the screen so he could then do a J.LK. There are tons of little cool hits that make this video so cool, imo.

Hmmmmmm: Eidrian really hated the video. It boiled down to the fact that the 2 character bug is used throughout pretty much the whole video; and that's just something he couldn't get behind. I think that's a valid concern and everything, but personally, I enjoyed the choreography behind his combos. Do you guys feel the same way?

Here's my honest opinion. You and him have the same style. You don't make combo videos, you make glitch videos and incorporate combos in them.
That's not a bad thing at all either. This video is godlike in its own way. If anyone were to have anything bad to say about it, it would be the same argument that Eidrian had, (too many double character combos).
You guys dig way deeper than anyone else is willing to look in a combo engine. That should never go unrewarded.
I, myself am a huge fan of his. And apparently he's one of mine. I'm looking forward to some more mvc1 mania.

I'm all for crazy setups and suki cancels, and this kind of thing was interesting the first time I saw it. But what's the point of a combo video where all the combos are easily explicable at any point even if the combo counter goes up. It's like watching a sfa3 combo were the opponent never air techs.

This video is godlike. Having a second character on screen just adds a whole new layer of depth and complexity that makes creating a solid combo harder, not easier. I dunno how people can hate on it for working so hard to push the limits like that, there are so many mindblowing moments in every combo. Sure, two character vids can be lame when they don't have much skill, but this video is not one of them.

I think I agree with both WM and Remxi. I like combo videos when they become really complex and add a lot of possibilities to what people think is possible. In the older versus games, you can't really introduce solo-combos that are ground breaking; or in mvc2's case, limit breaking. I think Joo kind of took care of what was possible with solo character set ups in terms of mvc2. So the only thing left, in my opinion, is to just have more complex set ups and try different types of combo ideas because there's nothing left.

I really enjoy Izumojin's videos because some of the combos are very complex in how they're choreographed and it's really fun to see that kind of stuff. But I can see how that's just not some people's thing. Like, people who legitimately can't get behind programmable controller/tool-assisted content. Although I think some of the criticisms about this video is that the glitch used is too extreme with regards to involving glitches in combos.

In other news: I dont know if Izumojin changed his mind about MvC2 because I sent him another message saying that I liked his content and that I hope he makes more. He then said
Thanks to that I liked the video.
How do I make a video of MvC2?
We exchanged msns and ive yet to chat with him. Hopefully it wasn't a miscommunication or misunderstanding in what i said, lol. It'd be really cool to see his take on MvC2!

Yeah i really like izumojin's stuff as well. I want to have a go at the 2 character trade stuff but i think it'll probably turn out a bit lame cos i still haven't played too much of the series. I'll give it a shot tho. I liked magnetro's dhalsim combos in mvc2 and didn't realise the same stuff worked in mshvsf and mvc, tho i had seen suki cancels so i should've connected the dots, lol.

I don't like this episode as much as his COTA/MSH/XSF stuff. When he started relying on these interrupt setups for MSF, i understood because we all know MSF to be a highly restrictive combo engine. But that's not true of MvC1, so i was disappointed to see him still using that exploit.

It's still a good video, but i would've liked to see a "straight" MvC1 combovid before he went off the rails mashing on this unlimited interrupt button.

I agree. But I think I adhere to the saying of "With great power comes great responsibility." If you're going to use something that allows you that much 'power', then I think it's best to be able to achieve something complex and stylish with it; and in my opinion, he did do it (Chun vs Zangief & Shadow Lady combo).

Now, I don't know how he feels, but I think that if he was going to pursue something complex and choreographed, that 2-character bug would have been the best way to go about it. Maybe he didn't want to do regular combos 'cause it wouldn't have allowed for what he wanted to do? 'Cause it seems from the other combo videos that interrupting stuff is his style so it's kind of to be expected. I'm just happy that he really goes crazy with his style.

It had its moments for sure. I liked the Cap combo and i really enjoyed Chun Li whiffing her air super as an airdash. Using Shadow Lady's death arc as a setup to turn Zangief back to normal was clever too.

Personally though - as a whole, the video blurred into a forgettable mess. It seemed like Shadow Lady was always there to bail him out of any long recovery, so i couldn't see the technical challenge in most of what took place. Then it becomes strictly a matter of style, but seeing the combo performer constantly getting hit was killing the flow for me. I don't know, maybe that's just me.

The unlimited pushback mitigation too... the 2-character glitch isn't my favorite thing in combo vids.

Argh. So it was, indeed, a miscommunication. Izumojin explained that he meant that he was curious about how I did my videos, but did not intend on doing mvc2 content "anytime soon". He still wants to do more old-versus series content because he does not feel satisfied with the videos he has so far. Oh well; i wish him luck in all his endeavors!
