Re: Majestic Screenshot Gallery
I was thinking about the upcoming Darkstalkers screenshots. These games are just full of possibilities, and I haven't even touched on the normal animations: Talbain hcf+KK vs Rikuo's hcf+PP Pyron's cosmo vs Sasquatch ice beam or LeiLei tenraiha Demitri's demon EX vs. Donovan's demon EX Donovan's sto...

Thanks for the tip.
I really enjoyed this one. I bet the maker didn't even know who would win.Xenozip. wrote:http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8971295 tool assisted versus match

Re: Vampire Savior TAS
Nice one. It only took one stock too. Her fireball is a great combo tool.
I was thinking of following her ES command throw with a flawless Puppet Show. Shouldn't be hard, but that's already 3 meter right there.

Re: Vampire Savior TAS
Yup, we determined that the emulator is deterministic, so the same input sequence will always get the same result... IF it's started on the same frame. If it's on turbo speed and the players are standing there idling and you start the input sequence on any old frame, you will get variable results th...

Re: Vampire Savior TAS
But did you try d, db, b, then u, then P? Pressing P so soon, it always comes out on the ground. But leaving 3 null frames between u and P also results in the varying levels. There is a minimum height in which you can do things, like airdash. Though this minimum does not apply to other characters l...

Re: Macro Usage + Other Emulator Tips and Tricks
Sadly macros are not yet supported by fba-rr.
I don't have much experience with cheat usage in MAME/FBA. I know mz is trying to switch cheats from the MAME way to the Gens way, and currently both seem to be broken. Can you get cheats for any game to work? If not, try an older version like 003c.

Re: Vampire Savior TAS
I discovered something annoying. The following data is for Demitri: jump on frame : air normal on frame : ground normal on frame 0 : 5 : 33 1 : 6 : 34 2 : 6 : 35 3 : 8 : 36 4 : 9 : 37 5 : 9 : 38 The startup for a jump takes 3 frames in 1 out of 3 cases, and 4 frames otherwise. The duration of the ju...

SF2 Special Champion Edition on Sega Genesis? T-t-t-t-totally awesome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l43hBX2Wnfg Did anyone in the 90s really think douchebags pointing with both hands was rad? The video was painful but the live action Guile was worth the price of admission. I did see that strategy...

Re: Vampire Savior TAS
I'll have to look in to that later. I do suspect the Zabel dashcancel might be a home version only glitch: http://www.geocities.jp/shu180sx/dc/dc-savior.html#01-05 Some text at the top says something about the PS2 version, but I thought SKill Smith made these before, like, the PS2 existed. edit: fix...

Re: Gameplay Trial 01: Dirty Cheese
Maj, you never said anything about not using emulators... Here's Victor from VSav. The dude has a lot of throws but not that many. I had to reuse one between the rounds. Use fba-rr 004.01 or higher and the right romset to replay it. It'll pause automatically at the end of the input stream. Just unpa...

Re: Vampire Savior TAS
Well I realized why all my frame comparisons are off: youtube mutilates the framerate down to 30 FPS. Maybe a better copy might be found on nicovideo or something, but considering that the source looks like an old VHS transfer, maybe not. Buffering that demon cradle before the dash helped, but I'm s...

Re: Vampire Savior TAS
Thanks, those questions were really bothering me. That makes sense about the rapid fire attacks, but somehow I'm not doing it right. The combo I'm trying to duplicate is at about 2:35 of part 1, Demitri vs Q bee. ES drillkick, s.LP, s.LP, dash, dashing ES demoncradle, etc. In my experiment, there ar...

Re: Vampire Savior TAS
It's been awhile and I feel obliged to make some noise. I had the (now obvious) idea to TAS two of the games separately, with no versus interruptions, then submit them together. This way you get two shorter videos instead of one long-ass, arbitrarily extended video. And no pressure to choreograph ve...

Re: Scrolling input display in emulators
Sure, I wouldn't mind if this gets publicized everywhere. I put a zip package on the fba-rr downloads page to make things a little easier. I was waiting for mz to release a version with better lua support but that hasn't happened yet. [That's the excuse for my belated reply.] You still need to get l...

Re: Scrolling input display in emulators
I don't think anyone would mind if you took event hubs http://media.eventhubs.com/images/sf3/sf3_punch_light.png Heh, it's identical to the strategywiki image. I wonder what the original source is? I can rip the sf4 training mode commands if you need me to. That would probably be best, if it's not ...

Re: Scrolling input display in emulators
It's easy to add support for other emulators... as long as they already have all the lua functionality prepared. There's no standardized base that I know of. Nitsuja developed it simultaneously for snes9x and gens a couple years ago and bits and pieces of it have passed among the tasvideos emulators...

Scrolling input display in emulators
So I've been working on a lua script to add vertically scrolling display, as seen in training mode in some games. This could help make combo videos more educational. http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/8421/scrollinginput2.png It's for 6-button Capcom games, but it could be expanded to cover other ki...

Re: Vampire Savior TAS
Thanks for asking. I am currently tied up with an earlier project but in the meantime I am reading everything there is to read on SH and watching all kinds of combo videos. Another distraction is the issues I found with fba-rr. In particular I'd like to have the movie files be more easily editable, ...

Thanks for the links, Maj. I'm studying them now. There's also this place: http://vampire-dcc.com/ But it's hard for me to tell what's going on there... Vampire Savior TAS
Hi, this is my first post. I have made some TASes for tasvideos and now I want to TAS Vampire Savior. I've never made a combo video, and I'm not an expert at fighting games, so I'll need advice. Why VS? I like the series. It's got real personality, and it's not excessively popular. I like VS's chara...
