    This…is just insane.
    That SFEX Video is the sickest thing i ever saw for that game and also really nice backwards combos on SFZ1!

  2. Dark Chaotix says:

    Woah….KYSG!

    Loved the SFEX stuff (such an underrated game…) and the Maki stuff from CvS2

    You wouldn’t even believe how long i’ve been waiting to see KYSG’s CvS2 recordings. There were like three screenshots of CvS2 combos posted on their website ages ago, but they refused to show any of that stuff no matter how many times i asked.

    In fact, i’d forgotten all about it until i saw these vids pop up on u2b. I’m really happy he decided to release them. There’s definitely some great stuff in there.

    a lot of the CvS2 stuff seems to have already been covered by now (i’m aware that he originally intended to release this all years ago), so I’m interested in what your favorites are, Maj, except for those in the Maki vid as you already said so on YouTube.

    for me, I liked:
    Morrigan’s Valkyrie Return followup in the Maki bug vid;
    The leggy Chun combo in backwards attacks;
    Massive hitstun after K-Geese’s Deadly Rave against Rolento, C-Athena’s double Shining Crystal Shoot, and that crazy Kim juggle in Lucky Rain.

    I don’t really get what C-Hibiki is canceling her Lv.2 super with against Dhalsim in the backwards attacker vid, just looks like a regular jump. I also don’t get why he has Rolento activate A-Groove then do Steel Rain, instead of just plainly using like a level 1 C-groove super or something.

    Also, were these all recorded on Normal speed? Does CvS2 even have a speed setting?

  5. Maj says:

    There weren’t any technical revelations in those CvS2 videos, and actually there wouldn’t have been anything majorly new even if they were released in 2003. But there are plenty of inventive combos in these vids, at least in terms of new mixtures and overall style.

    I really enjoyed watching them. My favorite clips were Bison at 0:08, Honda at 0:35, Akuma at 1:06, and Morrigan at 2:04 in the “Maki’s Virus” video. I also like the Benimaru linkfest at 0:15 and the pointlessly elaborate Terry cancel at 0:52 of “Backward Attacker” plus Rugal at 1:06/2:45 and Ken at 1:17 in “Lucky Rain.”

    Hibiki has a command dodge that she can cancel into a special roll/run or backhop. The reason for lvl1 Steel Rain out of A-Groove is because CC mode attacks cause reduced impact freeze which provides a few less frames of recovery during interrupt setups.

    And yeah, these are all Normal speed (aka Speed 1). CvS2 had like five speed settings. I like the default Turbo speed (aka Speed 3). Japanese combo makers always go straight to the slowest speed setting.

    Thanks! You gonna add the SS stuff to this post, or wait until 538 drops more “lost bits”?

  7. Maj says:

    I think i’ll make another post today, and generally wait for the last day of the week in case he continues releasing them in batches.
