SSF2 Bonus Stage Combo Video by izumojin

In a surprise twist, izumojin’s newest combovid takes place entirely on two bonus stages from the SNES version of Super Street Fighter II. The obstacles at the center of each stage prevent characters from drifting apart, enabling crazy long link combos without pushback limitations.

SSF2 Balrog far attack links at 0:14, Chun Li jump attack craziness at 0:28, Dee Jay indirectly induced j.HP at 0:46, Fei Long rekka drop cancels at 1:19, and Vega reverse pushback at 1:48

I don’t understand what’s going on with Vega at the end. Why are his attacks mysteriously pulling opponents toward him?

  2. Maj says:

I asked him about Vega’s combos on u2b and this was his response via PM:

“I am not good at English, is described in Japanese.

According to @nifty he’s saying that you have to tap Back before the attack connects to cause the reverse-push. And that it doesn’t work with jump attacks.

But why does it only work with Vega? I carefully rewartched every hit in the video and none of the other characters cause that same effect while facing the opponent.

Internet translation is somewhat weird but @nifty did it right this time.

I love his works. Always excited to see a new vid.

The hit sounds of the first 10seconds seems to be matching with the music?

  4. Maj says:

Wow, i think you’re right – those hits seem to match almost perfectly. That would explain the first two clips, because otherwise they don’t seem to have a purpose.

Anyway i totally agree, everything this guy does is great. Can’t wait to see which game he plans to explore next.

A mistake matched my explanation, so it’s corrected.
Just after jumping, it’s also possible to be to input a lever to the back and cause a reverse push by the attack I’m jumping.”

    Only Vega?
    Do you know why?”
    SFC版のSF2 Turboでも同じ現象が起こります。

I think it’s probably only Balrog.
    A reason isn’t understood.
The same phenomenon also occurs in SF2 Turbo in SFC version.”
