Power Instinct: Bonnou Kaihou CMV by adakino

Where does adaki find these obscure fighting games? Apparently this video was completed five years ago, but he’s just now made it available on his u2b channel. I can’t even tell what these ridiculous characters are doing most of the time, but i’m pretty sure i’m offended by it.

highlights:
SGIBK Chinnen air kung fu at 0:05, Kintaro double bear juggle at 0:18, and Angela random fireball setup at 0:26

Hey common Maj, the Power Instinct franchise was quite popular back in the day, it’s not thaaaat obscure.

  2. Maj says:

The only reason i knew this was a Power Instinct game is because wikipedia told me when i looked up the title. If adaki hadn’t bothered writing the title, i couldn’t have posted the video because i wouldn’t know what to call it!

I bet the biggest tournament ever held for this game had single-digit entrants. The whole thing probably fit on an 8-man bracket. That’s obscure.

Now I wanna PM adakino and tell him to do combos for “Dangerous Streets”

  4. AquaTeamV3 says:

Umm, what did I just watch?

I’m a self-professed fan of Power Instinct, but even I hardly know what’s going on here. Here’s what I do know/have pulled from Wikia about the game:

*The game is an enhanced port of Power Instinct Matrimelee for the Neo-Geo. (If anyone’s interested, Matrimelee is playable on Supercade under it’s Japanese title: “Shin gouketsuzi ichizoku – Toukon”)

*The clip in the very beginning is from one of several music videos included in the game, specifically the video for the BGM in this vid (titled “Let’s Go! Onmyoji”).

*As for the random fireball: Bonnou Kaihou has a “card” system that lets you assign extra moves/buffs to a character, sort of like a really primitive version of the capsules in the DBZ Budokai games.

*The moves with purple shadow trails are basically EX moves, performed by doing certain moves while running/canceling from a running normal. Every PI game since Power Instinct Legends has had this feature.

*”Bobby” is a character created specifically for this game, based on K-1 fighter Bobby Ologun. I have no explanation for that super, however.

Hope someone here finds all that useful…
