I don’t know if it’s just me, but both the Youku player and the embedded video take a really long time to load. Guess it’s not that big a deal for a 4-minute video though.

The content was really good – the K9999 triple-bubble combo especially. The way it ended made me laugh. Also liked that Joe combo at 2:25 with the random stationary tornado, and the Terry combo at 2:43 with two different interrupt strikers.

Editing-wise it was alright, but i really didn’t like the random white flashes. It’s bad enough when it happens in the game. No need to add extra ones.

I did upload it to YouTube. Perhaps it’s better for most folks here. Apparently it’s blocked in Germany, thanks to the soundtrack. Sorry about that.

With or without their permission? I really don’t like it when people upload videos without obtaining the author’s permission first.

    • kofplayer says:

I didn’t ask, but my main aim was to let more people in the world see these works. I have been doing it for quite a while, and I do credit my sources.

Feel free to edit/delete my comments as you deem fit :)

    • Maj says:

I won’t delete it, but please don’t do it again. Good intentions or not, that’s everybody’s excuse and i’m not okay with it. It completely undermines the author’s efforts and forces them into a corner regarding their release plans. Sorry if this sounds harsh but i’m not flexible on this issue/policy.

Anyway at least we got the soundtrack name out of this. Added above.

  3. Remxi says:

Nice work from CoolSoul as always. K9999 combo was godlike, and I really liked the Kula, Joe and Terry combos.

kofplayer: I appreciate the effort of you uploading stuff to youtube. A combo maker should be concered that the video is accessible, not that people are stealing views from their site/channel.

    • Maj says:

What effort? It took 10 minutes to upload something that someone else put several days or weeks into making. If i downloaded all your videos and uploaded them to my channel, would you praise my effort too?

Don’t take this personally, but who are you tell someone what they should be concerned about? If they really wanted their videos on u2b, they’d either do it themselves or make a simple request.

Again, i’m sorry if this seems extreme, but this bullshit was exactly the reason my favorite CvS2 combo makers stopped making videos. People started sharing Sai-Rec vids that weren’t meant to be freely available yet and that was the last we ever heard of them.

Why can’t people accept the slightest inconvenience or patience in obtaining something valuable? Are you really saying “fuck your opinion” to the guy who made something you enjoy, just for the convenience of watching it on u2b? That’s seriously depressing, bro.

I realize that i’m probably overthinking this, but i’d rather not be involved in causing another talented combo maker to quit out of frustration.

  4. Remxi says:

I would in fact praise that because more people would see it. It’s not the effort of uploading, it’s the effort of staying in touch with a wide range of communities so that everyone else doesn’t have to (i.e. the entire point of this site).

Who am I to tell someone what they should be concerned about? You aren’t doing the same thing?

Has CoolSoul objected to it? No, only you on their behalf…

Sai-Rec is a different situation if the vids weren’t supposed to be available. kofplayer uploads stuff that has already been released, and provides a link to the original source.

w/e we’re gonna have to agree to disagree on this, because no one is going to change their mindset about it.

  5. Maj says:

Wow dude, that’s really short-sighted. Instead of asking me if CoolSoul has objected, why don’t you go ask them if they’re okay with it before you support someone for hijacking their material?

And no, we’re absolutely not going to “agree to disagree” on this. ComboVid’s policy is that videos posted here must be uploaded to their author’s channel, or with the express prior permission of the author.

This isn’t up for debate. If you don’t like it, start your own website. But i’m absolutely not willing to risk alienating content producers just to make things slightly easier for viewers. I’ve seen where that road leads and it’s bad news for everyone.

You really need to accept that some things, you can’t have.

Did you know that KYSG made CvS2 videos? 538 has CvS2 game engine memos and combo transcripts on his website. I asked him for those a LONG time ago and he refused, and even went so far as to say that he never wants to release a CvS2 video. He even had “Capcom vs SNK 2” crossed out on his video index.

Now obviously, i really want those videos. I don’t care if they’re good, bad, innovative, outdated, whatever. I still want them.

Maybe he shared them with his friends? I could go around asking everyone he’s ever credited in his videos. I’ve talked to a lot of those names over the years. Maybe i could obtain those clips, and then i could post all of them on my u2b channel and gain misguided praise the entire CvS2 community.

Am i going to do it? Hell no! Because it would piss him off and give him a major reason not to make any more videos in the future.

I fully, voluntarily accept that i’ll probably never see those clips. And if anyone ever posts them without his permission, i’ll absolutely refuse to give them any exposure whatsoever.

    • Remxi says:

Not a debate because you’re not listening, just making a straw man. No need to blow shit up by making up radical situations that aren’t even relevant to what I was saying. I wasn’t telling you what to do with your site, just providing a counter opinion in kofplayer’s defense.

    • Maj says:

I’d listen if you had anything new to say, but you’re rehasing old excuses which don’t make sense and are outright damaging to what i’m trying to do.

Yes, i feel strongly about this. Don’t walk into an argument you can’t handle and then accuse me of “blowing shit up.” If somehow you weren’t sure before, let me make it clear now: This is a big deal to me. You’re damn right it’s going to get heated if you keep pushing.

  6. kofplayer says:

I understand where Maj is coming from, and I can’t dispute that. I also know what Remxi is trying to say. Ultimately, we have our own viewpoints and principles, and I think whatever it is, I will and should respect the guidelines and regulations of this site while being/posting here in the future. I’m sorry to have caused an off-topic discussion, but let’s just keep it to the discussion of the video =)

    Peace.

    • Maj says:

Thanks, that’s all i ask. Whatever your approach is, i’m not criticizing you personally – but i just don’t want it happening here. It’s not like i have a lot of rules, but i feel this one is important to the future of our little community of combo makers.

It makes my job ten times harder having to maneuver around this lame obstacle. My life would be a LOT easier if i just posted everything without worrying about where it came from, but i just can’t bring myself to pretend it doesn’t matter.

And i’m not gonna go out of my way to harm anyone either. I can’t even remember the last time i clicked thumbs down on u2b. Even when people uploaded my videos (which obviously irritates me), i contact them directly instead of having u2b take them down.
